What is the current opinion on Mechwarrior 5, I have yet to get it as I am not really a fan of the Epic Game Store release.

It certainly has helped to get new blood into the community, and given us the chance for plenty of setting destruction, but the lack of a stronger story arc was a bit of a downer for me. The settings feel a little repetitive, the procedural generation leaves little memorable terrain features like in previous games. I loved the banter of Galaxy Commander Brendon Corbett in MW3 for example. The music was great as with many of the series before it, but "BattleTech's" turn based soundtrack was absolutely biblical. I still feel I will play it for a long long while and it is worth it, just not perfect, but certainly a worthwhile effort. The Epic Game store fiasco was a bad sell that didn't go in their favor I figure. Didn't stop me from picking it up I guess, but probably stepped on more toes then they thought.

I am enjoying it very much. I actually like the HUD layout better. It is more cleaner.

I can't cast a vote. I don't know, I haven't gotten the game yet.

I love the appearance of the armor, VTOL's and turrets for squishes to kill, but I agree after a long long time playing the procedural generation does feel a little repetitive. Not exactly pleased about some of the AI spawns as well.

Sure it can't be everything to all people, but at least it is something after so so many years of waiting, and you have to admit modern graphics are so much better than Mechwarrior 4 era.

I prefer Mechwarrior when it had more of a narrative streak to it. This was ok, sure the graphics are great and the models are impressive as with MWO, but Mechwarrior 2 had some of the best mission concepts and Mechwarrior 3 I just felt was unique (a handful of you against a world of Smoke Jaguars).

I waited a while to pick it up, not disappointed, but I like TT better. The MechCommander series I miss, and I am enjoying "BattleTech" very much, especially with RogueTech installed.

Any mech game is fine with me. I loved the old Front Misison series myself. Many fond memories of weekends lost in time

God mechwarrior 3 was good at the time wasn't it? Excellent range of mechs, excellent story, terrible AI but I suppose you can't have everything.

I just picked up the game last weekend and am greatly enjoying it. Happy to see all the turrets, helicopter and tanks to kill, miss those days playing MW2 and MW3 as well.
