Part One - Overview of Current Land Forces Organisational Structure.
Forces Command is the highest level operational command of the New Vinberland military and reports to the Military Council. All operational land, air, sea and space formations of the New Vinberland military fall under the organisational hierarchy of Forces Command.
For the land forces the next layer below Forces Command are the divisions. The nominal full strength each division would be five maneuver brigades and a support brigade that contains the various division level logistics, artillery, surveillance, policing and engineer assets. Given its current small size the New Vinberland military would be unable to organise even a single full strength division, however for administrative purposes two divisions currently exist. The regular army brigades fall under the hierarchy of the New Vinberland Defence Force Division and the brigades of the State Guard are under the State Guard Division.
The New Vinberland Defense Force Division currently consists of the 101st Armoured, 110th Light, 151st Airmobile, 300th Battlemech and 220th Support Brigades. The State Guard Reserve Division currently consists of the 701st and 720th State Guard Brigades, although in practice the single currently active battalion of the 720th reports directly to Forces Command. The 180th SAB Brigade and 901st ATTP Brigade are directly subordinate to Forces Command.
Each brigade typically groups together battalions of a similar nature. Tank battalions will form armoured brigades, battlemech battalions into battlemech brigades, airmobile battalions into airmobile brigades etc. Nominally each brigade consists of five maneuver battalions, however currently the New Vinberland military doesn't possess sufficient active battalions of the various types for any of its brigades to be anywhere close to their full nominal strength.
The military of New Vinberland currently has nine numbered brigades, although most brigades currently only have a single active battalion. Only the 101st Armoured Brigade and 701st State Guard Brigade currently possess more than one active battalion. The number of each brigade is based upon type of troops assigned to brigade and the general nature of its equipment.
