QUESTION SUBMITTED BY EMAIL
Do we have to hunt down and kill every enemy vehicle crew? Do we get to claim them as kills for XP?
That is a big NO, you do not have to slay enemy Mechwarriors and Vehicle crew in combat, in fact it is the very opposite! It is considered a war crime to murder them unless they fire at you first, as such exposed mechwarriors/vehicle crew are not equal to their infantry peers (they don't have the same armor protection and survival gear) and are labelled as non-combatants until they take part in fighting outside of such units. That said in MegaMek battles players can hunt down enemy Mechwarriors for capture by ending a turn on the same hex as them, vehicle crew captures however are random rolls by the MegaMek HQ software.
Since killing OpFor Mechwarriors and Vehicle crews is labelled a war crime (unless they fire on you) they cannot be claimed as kills by your combat personnel for extra XP.

Oops.
But bandits don’t qualify as lawful combatants under the geneva convention. If anything they are criminals and must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the AC/5... I mean “law”.

Basically this is a way to get extra cash. They may be criminals, lets just say they get a "fair" trial by your government or the Admin Empire's when you submit them as prisoners.

This wasn't a deliberate kill on my part, I couldn't have planned this if I tried, but this turn one bandit vehicle crew did managed to get themselves killed by me in a horrific way. An artillery unit well off the map fired a HE Thumper round at a pre-registered hex. Later that turn a bandit vehicle was immobilized, next turn the bandits bail out of the vehicle, then spend their next two turns moving right to the target hex of the incoming round and ...
... received quadrupled artillery damage. A very dead vehicle crew and presumably a PTSD inducing mess of remains for one of my army's burial parties to be dealing with after the battle.

Yup, better get a mop!
Things like that are of course understandable, after all this is a warzone. Deliberate attacks are discouraged, also because it saves you time.

I find that buildings Opfor vehicle crew tend to hide in are often horrifically under-strength and tend to collapse on them rather easily, that is after I preform a few "safety" tests with our weapons.

PiratePatrick, clearly this is not your fault. You were just testing structural integrity of buildings that you would expect your own men to hide in. It's not your fault that during said structure test certain individuals were not where they belonged.
