A bandit force I defeated this turn included a pair of static gun emplacement, both of which suffered crew killed critical hits and were salvaged intact after the battle. Since gun emplacements are considered immobile on the strategic map I assume I should leave them deployed at the same map location, just with my own personal hired to crew them?

In a case like this I would allow you to "salvage" them and move them at least once to anywhere on the strategic map. Chances are you wouldn't deploy them in the same area. You can also opt to sell them.

You mean anywhere that we know there will be buildings to put them in, so limited to towns, cities, ports, etc.
