QUESTION SUBMITTED VIA EMAIL:
How does one recover immobilised vehicles or mechs missing legs?
If they are left on the battlefield and you control the battlefield after a mission ends they "auto" move to your nearest "deployment structure" of their respective type. If the enemy holds the field and they are left behind, then they "auto" move to the enemy camp's nearest "deployment structure" becoming their salvage property. (This also works for mechs that have no working gyros or are combat kills due to engine destruction.)

As per usual in alpha I assume this also covers salvage of enemy machines that don't have friendly pilots. For example if I have a mech and my enemy has a mech and the enemy pilot is knocked out or killed (with no other active combatants on the field) then the enemy mech would appear back at my deployment base.
The same goes for abandoned enemy vehicles, so if a Saladin got stuck in woods hex or an enemy partisan got abandoned but not immobilized, since I do not have crews for those out at the front they would return to base.
Same with say an LRM Carrier of mine that is immobile but not dead, and I abandon it on the field in hopes of claiming it after combat is over, since it is immobile it would return to base, whereas if it was still able to move it would return to me at the front line after combat moving at a snails pace.

Yes this is correct, however also remember that any of your personnel (Mechwarriors, tank crew that abandon their unit, etc) that are not picked up by other friendly units during a fight, and if you don't win the match and loose control of the battlefield, they will be taken by other players as prisoners, and who knows (dog food?) for the bandits?
