Today I thought I would give everyone a bit of a sneak peak on how I am generating the overall strategic map for game play.
I am using a series of heavily modified settings for the tool on this website: azgaar.github.io/Fantasy-Map-Generator/
Wherever trees, rivers and mountains are located are also the placement of such objects on the strategic map.
Biome types include: Glacier, Tundra, Taiga, Wetland, Temperate Rainforest, Temperate Deciduous Forest, Grassland, Cold Desert, Hot Desert, Tropical Seasonal Forest, Tropical Rainforest, and Savanna.
I have been "re-modelling" four of these 1,000 by 1,000 maps to represent the various "continental regions" or "island chains" that are the different zones of play: Clan only, Inner Sphere only, mixed and 3025 era. They aren't perfect representations as I am editing as I go for balance, and adding in some land bridges crossed by rivers so both ground and naval vessels can travel around easier, and between islands. So their are some strategic coke-points on the map.
The following images are NOT of our game world, but represent similar enough approximations to give you an idea what I see on the backend. Eventually I will update your files with a Biome Map tab for your territory and visible regions. Currently I am finishing modelling the rest of the four maps over into excel so we have room for more players. I am done two with the remaining two more than 66% finished each.
