Besides the usual machine guns and flamers, what other mech scale weapons work best against the squishes? I know laser based weapons do very little as they are direct attack. I think LB-X autocannons can work well with one of the special ammunition types, but is that it?

I find that using artillery, especially the long tom, does wonders against infantry. A well placed artillery strike and you will clear a lot.
Of course, arty does take a while to come down upon them and it requires more planning than mowing them down with MG's or flamers yet it does have my preference since you don't endanger your own troops.

There are fragmentation rounds available for SRM launchers. If there is extra tonnage available some of my units carry a load of these for the smaller SRM-2 and SRM-4 launchers. But I agree nothing kills infantry quite as fast as a well placed, or accidental friendly fire - artillery strike.

Apparently I just learned the Silver Bullet Gauss Rifle is also the equivalent of an LB-X 15, so that would work for anti-infantry in a pinch, although I think the ammunition is much to expensive for such targets. However I also forgot to mention the various anti-infantry and -battle armor pods available, yes they are one time use, but chew through PBI's like no body's business.

Aren't their flechette rounds developed by the Fedrats or something for regular autocannons?

Watch your tongue surat! The Federated Suns is far more honorable in its dealings than most, and if I do say so myself more free and tolerant. But yes flechette ammo works in regular autocannons, but you only get have the amount of ammunition you usually would per ton. www.sarna.net/wiki/Flechette_Ammo |

I will trust a Davion after I've seen how far my Long-Tom can throw him. Behind all that plot armor is some scheming and a knife to be plunged in your back or heart and the earliest convenience. And who exactly was it that tried to claim the entire Capellan Confederation as a wedding gift? That's right a Davion!
